Tuition & Other Fees

A. Admission Fees

A non-refundable AED 300 admission fee will be charged when the applicant submits his/her application form to the Admission & Registration Department (ARD). This fee also applies to students who are being re-admitted. In addition, applicants pay a non-refundable fee of AED 100 for their Student ID card.

 

B. Placement Exam Fees

Effective immediately, no fees will be charged for UD placement tests (English and Mathematics) for new students.

 

C. Tuition Fees

At the beginning of each semester, students must contact the Accounting Department to arrange the payment of their fees. Students who do not pay the tuition fees within 36 hours of completing the advising and booking process will have their provisional bookings cancelled.

1 This is a compulsory course. Students repeating this course will pay a fee of AED 937/-
2 Regular Internship will be offered for 8 weeks in Summer semester by CBA and CIT.
3 Industry Project will be offered for 8 weeks each in Winter and Spring semesters by CBA while CIT will be offering in Spring semester only for 15 weeks.
4 A lab fee that is equivalent to the cost of one credit-hour will apply to the following courses:
ITGN 115 Computer Applications; ITGN 120 Internet Applications; ITGN 230 Introduction to Programming;
ITGN 315 Object-oriented Programming; ITGN 350 Web Design and Development.

• Student Exchange Program

When UD students go to partner universities under this program (for internship or course work) they will pay US$ 500/- per student per course to the partner university. Similarly, the students from partner universities will pay US$ 500 per student per course to UD when they visit UD under this program. Exchange students need not pay admission fee of AED 300 to UD.

 

D. Registration Fees

A non-refundable AED 500 registration fee will be charged for each regular semester and AED 250 during Winter/Summer semesters.  This fee also applies to visiting students. Continuing students, who fail to register during the regular registration time period, as announced in the academic calendar, will be charged an additional late registration fee of AED 250 per course. This additional fee does not apply to added courses (replaced during Drop & Add period or just added to complete registration) during the Drop & Add period.

 

E. Student Activities Fees

A non-refundable AED 100 Student Activities fee will be charged for each regular semester and AED 50 during Winter/Summer semesters. This fee applies also to visiting students. Exchange students are exempted from paying activity fees.

 

F. Discount Policy

UD has established the following discount structure:

Students:

  • Government Departments: Discount of 10% for students working in the government sector (Students must provide an official letter from his/her employer each regular semester + work/employment ID for the short terms).
  • Relatives (brothers/sisters/husband/wife): Discount of 10% for two or more active brother/sister students.  Also, discount of 10% for two active students who are husband and wife.

Employees:

  • Discount of 15% for all UD and Dubai Chamber staff members, their brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and/or spouses. The discount is subject to UD/DC management approval with the following conditions:
    • There is availability on the course.
    • There is no impact on the productivity and quality of the employee’s work.
Note:
  1. Supporting documents must be provided in order to be granted any of the above discounts.
  2. The above-mentioned students discounts are applicable to UD regular students only and do not apply to visiting(short course) students.
  3. The maximum discount permissible is 30% per student.
  4. Any exceptions or rejections are at the discretion of the UD President.
 

G. Installment/Deferred Payments Policy

A non-refundable fee of AED 100 will be charged on each installment/postdated check. The maximum number of installments is four during Fall & Spring semesters and two during Winter & Summer semesters. At the time of registration students are required to pay for at least one course and all applicable registration and activity fees by cash, current check or credit card.  Any balance remaining must be paid in a maximum of three installments in the form of postdated checks.  The last date of the final installment is two weeks before the final exam for Fall/Spring semesters and one week before the Winter/Summer semesters end. Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted as payment.  Visiting/short course students may pay their fees by cash, current dated check or credit card; post-dated checks will not be accepted from visiting (short course) students.

The undergraduate tuition and other fees may be subject to change at the beginning of the following academic year.

 

 

H. Refund Policy

  • Students are refunded 100% of the tuition fees paid if they withdraw during the first week.
  • Students are refunded 50% of the tuition fees paid if they withdraw during the second week.
  • Students withdrawing after the second week are not entitled to any refund.
  • Non-tuition fees are not refundable.
  • Tuition fees, as well as other fees paid for Winter/Summer semesters, are not refundable once paid - as explicitly stated in the registration form signed by the student.
  • Tuition fees might be refunded if there is sufficient evidence that the withdrawal is due to health reasons and the case is supported by proper documentation. This exception is subject to the approval of the President.
 

I. Insufficient Funds Policy

UD charges AED 500 for a returned check. No checks will be accepted from any student whose checks are returned twice. In this case, only cash and/or credit card payment is acceptable thereafter. It is the sole responsibility of the student to ensure all scheduled payments presented are properly provided for as management will not send reminders to the individual.

 

J. Outstanding Balances

Students with unpaid outstanding balances will have their registration placed on hold and will not be allowed to access any of their records.  In addition, they may not be given any letter of recommendation, which is requested during this period.

 

K. Bus Services

Bus service to students from the university will not be offered during the academic year 2011/2012.  However, the service may be outsourced to accommodate the transportation needs of the students. This will depend on the pre-determined minimum number of students requesting this service.
