This diploma program is designed for those working in the retail sector because retailers need staff who can deliver the high quality customer service that today's consumers demand
This program (1121-02) consists of 7 units:
- Unit 1 : Customer contact – enables candidates to sell a range of different products effectively; make related and associated sales; handle customer complaints and claims under warranty; identify and make a recommendation for improving customer service.
- Unit 2: Product knowledge and handling - enables candidates to explain and demonstrate the safety requirements for products; advise customers on a range of products and associated products and services; check the stock availability of products; wrap and pack various products; handle deliveries from suppliers and safely place goods into designated storage.
- Unit 3 : Handling customer payments - enables candidates to handle customer cheques, credit and card payments
- Unit 4 : Product Display - enables candidates to design and arrange displays of associated products and price merchandise including national / local taxes.
- Unit 5 : Stock control and security – enables candidates to check stock and apply good security working practices.
- Unit 6: Health, Safety and Law - enables candidates to understand the health and safety regulations in the country of study; carry out a company’s health and safety procedures and understand the laws relating to the retail industry in the country of study.
- Unit 7: Communication and information technology – enables candidates to use communication skills and information technology in retail applications.
Minimum - secondary level education with at least two years experience in a relevant business environment.
Spread over 4 months, classes are scheduled twice a week during evening hours.
