You're here because you're checking out a school's accreditation. You're doing the right thing because accreditation is one of the most important checkpoints when helping your child choose a Business or IT School.

You might say selecting a Business or IT school is similar to purchasing a home. Since it is such a large investment, you wouldn’t purchase a home unless it had been inspected. You also wouldn't purchase a home unless you trusted the inspector, right?

AACSB accreditation is a lot like a home inspection but for business schools. It helps to ensure that a business school will provide your child with the knowledge and skills they need to be one in a million to employers in a very competitive workforce.

ABET accreditation is an important indicator of the commitment of our Computing and Information Systems (CIS) program to quality and it may be a key to your professional future. This international accreditation is in fact an assurance that you selected a CIS program that meets the quality standards set by the Computing profession.

Make sure your child gets the best—be sure they attend an AACSB-accredited business school or enroll in a CAC/ABET accredited Computing and Information Systems Program.

Why is AACSB accreditation so important to my child's education?

  AACSB accreditation...
  • Looks at a school's curriculum to be sure they are teaching everything your child needs from communication skills to financial reporting.
  • Makes sure a school has qualified and adequate staff to successfully deliver its programs.
  • Requires a school to produce research that advances business—which means your child has access to innovative and relevant business ideas and methods.
  • Reviews a school's academic standards to ensure students are highly skilled upon graduation.
  • Ensures a school doesn't speed your child through a degree program at a pace where they cannot develop their abilities.

What is the difference between AACSB accreditation and other accreditations?

  • Accreditation can be complicated to understand. A school can be accredited in a variety of areas and at a variety of levels. The most common type of accreditation is known as institutional accreditation. In most countries, this type of accreditation is required in order for a school to award degrees.
  • After a university earns the basic right to grant degrees, it can continue to earn specialized accreditations for its specific degree programs. When a school earns a specialized accreditation from a top accrediting body in a particular area, it has demonstrated true quality. For university programs in business, AACSB is the largest and most recognized specialized accrediting body in the world.

How does AACSB accreditation help my child get a job after graduation?

  • First and foremost, companies worldwide seek out students from AACSB-accredited business schools. At an AACSB school, your child will have more opportunities to meet with potential employers through campus visits and career programs. These employers want quality graduates who are ready to perform on day one.
  • AACSB accreditation ensures that a school is teaching your child what employers need—the latest ideas in business, theories and practical skills, the ability to communicate effectively, professionalism, ethics and responsibility, the understanding of financial markets and accounting regulations, and more.
  • In addition to challenging classes, the faculty at AACSB-accredited business schools are among the most experienced and knowledgeable in their fields. After graduation, your child will have a range of professional skills that will be extremely valuable to employers.

Are the professors and classes at AACSB-accredited schools challenging and current?

  • Yes. When a school earns AACSB accreditation, its coursework and faculty are thoroughly reviewed. AACSB-accredited schools are required to develop codes of conduct for their faculty members and employ a sufficient number of staff to ensure the quality of the programs being offered. Schools must also support their faculty by providing mentoring and professional development opportunities.
  • Faculty members are required to have very distinct and high levels of educational and professional qualifications. They must ensure that students are learning in the classroom and that their instructional materials are effective. Faculty must challenge students and provide them with timely performance evaluations.
  • As far as coursework, AACSB accreditation requires a school to have relevant, challenging classes that are frequently evaluated based on their ability to prepare students for success in business.
